What happens at my first visit?
During your first visit, your osteopath will take a comprehensive case history, including details about your current problem and full medical background, to better understand your condition. You may be asked to undress to your underwear to allow for a thorough examination of your posture and movement (depending on the area being treated). If you prefer, you’re welcome to wear shorts and a top or a swimsuit. Changing facilities and gowns are available for your convenience.
Following the examination, your osteopath will explain their findings and discuss a tailored treatment plan. If appropriate, treatment will begin during this session.
If you feel more comfortable, you’re welcome to bring a friend or relative to your appointment to act as a chaperone during the examination and treatment. Your comfort and confidence are always our top priorities.
What techniques do your osteopaths use?
Our osteopaths blend traditional methods, such as manual therapy and joint manipulation, with cutting-edge treatments like Focused Shockwave Therapy and Electrotherapy. This collaborative approach ensures every treatment is tailored to your individual needs.
Is osteopathic treatment painful?
Osteopathy is known for being gentle and minimally invasive. While some patients might experience mild discomfort during or after treatment, this is usually temporary and part of the healing process. Most patients leave their session feeling more mobile and at ease.
Can I be treated by a practitioner of the same sex?
Yes, we have both male and female practitioners at our practice. If you would prefer to be treated by someone of the same sex, simply let our reception team know when booking your first appointment, and we will be happy to accommodate your preference.
Do I need regular visits for maintenance?
For some conditions, regular maintenance can be highly beneficial. Periodic sessions may help improve posture, maintain joint mobility, and reduce the likelihood of recurring issues. Many of our patients find ongoing care supports their overall health and well-being.
What can I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit will include a detailed consultation to explore your medical history and treatment goals. This will be followed by a physical examination, a treatment and a tailored treatment plan. Your osteopath will guide you through the process, answer any questions, and ensure you feel informed and at ease.
